FLYWHEEL WEIGHT KTM/HUSQVARNA 2017-2023
The flywheel weight is an advantage because it increases bottom end torque. This will help all TPI’s significantly, offering better engine performance and making the power of your bike more usable.
The flywheel weight has 3 stainless steel grub screws inserted to offer an easy installation on the bike. Easy to mount and dismount, no heat or glue required.
This comes in 4 different weights depending on what you want.
100g
150g
200g
250g
The 150g weight is an all rounder (more torque but still great to ride at speed e.g. cross country events, traditional enduros). This will give you more torque pulling out of corners as well.
For KTM EXC, 250-300, 2017-2023 Husqvarna TE, 250-300, 2017-2023
Please note this does not fit GAS GAS.
Flywheel Weight Fitting Instructions
- Lean the bike onto a bike stand – with the throttle on the stand and with the steering turning turned left.
- Remove the flywheel cover. It’s on the gear pedal side of the bike. Remove the ring of 9 bolts with an 8 mm socket or a torx bit. (They are all different lengths so make sure you know which one came from where!)
- When pulling the cover off it will have some resistance as it is magnetic. Let it hang on the wiring (no need to remove any wiring).
- Ensure the gasket comes off with the cover.
- Also ensure that the 2 circular cover locators are still in the flywheel cover or in the engine casing.
- At this point if they are in the cover, it is easier to remove them from the cover if they pull out with fingers and fit them into the engine casing. If they don’t come out with fingers, leave them in position (it’s just slightly trickier when putting back on).
- Put the gasket on to the locators and the gasket will sit in the right position.
- Then fit the flywheel weight onto the stepped part of the flywheel. It’s the only way it can fit.
- Ensure grub screws are not protruding into the inside of the flywheel weight or it will prevent you from sliding it onto the flywheel.
- Take a wooden or rubber mallet and slowly tap evenly around until it stops up against the step on the flywheel.
- Tighten up the grub screws.
- You can use a tiny amount of MILD loc-tite on the grub screws. (I don’t use this as I am not a fan of loc-tite when you are taking parts on and off as it wears threads out. I just tighten them up nicely).
- Check the cover/gasket locators are in place (there are 2).
- Make sure gasket is sitting correctly.
- Re-fit cover ensuring it fits flat against the engine casing before fitting any bolts.
- Put the bolts in the correct holes.
- Tighten up nicely without over tightening. (See bike manufacturer guidelines for torque setting for your bike).
Your flywheel should really increase the bottom end power and give you more traction in slippery conditions. We have a variety of sizes available (100g, 150g, 200g and 250g) to give you a different feel in different situations.
